Goose Island Beer Company tours the nation with Chicago style

Goose Island Beer Company teamed up with Craftsmen Industries to create a mobile sampling bar that uniquely ties to their Chicagoan roots. There was no better housing for the mobile bar than a vintage Chicago train car!

Craftsmen’s engineering and fabrication teams used their extensive experience to do a first in Craftsmen history – retrofitting a real train car for a mobile tour. The unit was modified to meet specific road requirements and drop to the ground for ideal height to create a true walk-up bar experience.

The interior was transformed into a fully-functional bar including a custom serving window with iconic Goose Island taps, a custom keg cooler, and monitors custom installed to display promotional material on the exterior in show mode, but camouflage with the train car when not in use. Among the new bar items, the train car features many of its original elements to keep an authentic vintage Chicago train car style. Craftsmen retrofitted the original intercom system with an updated high-quality sound system and the exterior scrolling signage to feature branded phrases. The original exterior lighting was modified with sequencing LED lights, while the original interior lighting was custom designed and installed with energy-efficient, high-brightness lighting to give the mobile bar a glow that customers could see from far away. Original seating, controls and maps are still showcased in the train car.
